Let’s face it – Rebbetzen Heller

Seriously, this book is so brilliant. Having been to Neve and heard Rebbetzen Heller speak daily, I can almost hear her reading it out. It’s a definite must on the reading list. Her every word is a jem.

Some pearls from the 1st chapter include:

  • “Every one of us, every day, is faced with challenges which will determine whether we make ourselves into spiritual heroes or failures. In fact, by the time the grandiose, dramatic choices face us, our response will already be determined by the aggregate of our seemingly trivial, daily choices.”
  • “Where there is no inner struggle, there is no challenge, and therefore no growth.”
  • “We tend to trivialize our lives and devalue our actions, rather than appreciating that our every response is a step to our inner greatness. Torah teaches us that our every word and action is recorded, not only by some Big Hand in the Sky, but by our own hand, on the parchment of our soul. We carve out our identity every moment.”
