righteousness of the baal teshuva

The Talmud expresses high regard for the baalei teshuva. It states that, “In the place where baalei teshuva stand, even the perfectly righteous cannot stand” (Berakhot 34b).

To me that just shows once again Judaism’s commitment to personal growth and to the pursuit of becoming a better more fulfilled human being. What matters is not from where we start or what situation we are born into, but rather the amount of growth one makes and the challenges one is able to overcome.
